Background and triggering conditions
- In September 2016 the authorities requested the Fund to resume discussions on financial support "as soon as possible."
- Reference to prior IMF statement: PR N0 16/436 of September 29, 2016, which indicated that "a solid track record of implementation of sound macroeconomic policies and an effective initiation of the audit process in the near term would help to create the conditions for a possible resumption of program discussions with the IMF."
