Implementation details
- Cambodia has launched a National Summary Data Page (NSDP) to implement the recommendations of the Enhanced General Data Dissemination System (e-GDDS).
- The NSDP:
- Serves as a one-stop vehicle for publishing essential macroeconomic data in both human and machine-readable formats.
- Is hosted by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) on its website.
- Utilizes the Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX).
- Cambodia benefitted from a project on the Improvement of Data Dissemination in the Asia and Pacific Region, financed by the government of Japan, which aims to assist countries to promote data dissemination under IMF’s data standards initiatives.
- A link to Cambodia’s NSDP is available on the IMF’s Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board at: https://dsbb.imf.org/Pages/GDDS/CtyCtgList.aspx?ctycode=KHM.
- A link to the country’s NSDP is also available on the IMF’s Dissemination Standards Bulletin Board (DSBB) at https://dsbb.imf.org.
Expected benefits and intended users
- Publication of essential macroeconomic data through the NSDP will provide:
- National policy makers and a broad range of domestic and international stakeholders, including investors and rating agencies, with easy access to information that the IMF’s Executive Board has identified as critical for monitoring economic conditions and policies.
- Making this information simultaneously available to all users is intended to bring greater data transparency.
Statements and endorsements
- H.E. Mrs. Hang Lina, Director General of National Institute of Statistics of Cambodia:
- “The implementation of the e-GDDS would facilitate our efforts to achieve our goal of advancing the National Strategic Development Plan for Statistics 2019-2023.”
- Louis Marc Ducharme, Director of the IMF’s Statistics Department:
- “I congratulate the authorities of Cambodia for the launch of the NSDP, an important step forward in data dissemination. I am confident that Cambodia will benefit from using the e-GDDS as a framework for further development of its statistical system.”
Background on the e-GDDS
- The e-GDDS was endorsed by the IMF’s Executive Board in May 2015 to:
- Support improved data transparency,
- Encourage statistical development,
- Help create synergies between data dissemination and surveillance.
- The e-GDDS supersedes the GDDS, which was established in 1997.
- A short video is available that gives a broad overview of the benefits of the e-GDDS.
