IMF Staff Concludes Mission to Ethiopia

End-of-Mission press releases include statements of IMF staff teams that convey preliminary findings after a visit to a country. The views expressed in this statement are those of the IMF staff and do not necessarily represent the views of the IMF’s Executive Board. Based on the preliminary findings of this mission, staff will prepare a report that, subject to management approval, will be presented to the IMF's Executive Board for discussion and decision.

    Addis Ababa: An International Monetary Fund (IMF) staff team led by Mr. Alvaro Piris visited Addis Ababa from October 30 – November 13, 2025, to hold discussions on the Fourth Review Under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

    At the end of the visit, Mr. Piris issued the following statement: “The staff team made good progress towards staff level agreement on the fourth ECF review. Discussions will continue virtually in the coming weeks. We thank the authorities for their warm hospitality and the productive discussions.”

    The IMF team held meetings with Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide, Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia Eyob Tekalign, and other senior officials. The team also had productive discussions with banks and private companies.”
