Ahead of the 2026 Annual Meetings, our signature event in the region is the Asia in 2050 conference in Bangkok on March 4-6, 2026. Focusing on peer learning and collaboration, this high-level event will bring together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the region. Vitai Ratanakorn · Governor, Bank of Thailand
Vitai Ratanakorn has been the Governor of the Bank of Thailand and Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee since October 2025. Currently, he also serves as a member of the National Economic and Social Development Council, a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and a Commissioner of the Office of Insurance Commission. Mr. Ratanakorn spent most of his career in the banking sector and capital markets, beginning in the securities industry before moving into senior financial‑sector leadership roles across major institutions. Between July 2020 and July 2025, he served as the President and CEO of the Government Savings Bank, during which he led the organization’s transformation into a Social Bank. Prior to that, he was the Secretary-General of the Government Pension Fund from 2018 to 2020, Director and Acting President of the Islamic Bank of Thailand from 2017 to 2018. Earlier in his career, he held executive roles as CFO of Nok Airlines Public Company Limited and Senior Deputy Managing Director at Charoen Pokphand Group. Mr. Ratanakorn holds a Master of Science in Finance from Drexel University, a Master of Arts in Political Economy, a Master of Laws in Business Law from Chulalongkorn University, and a Bachelor of Economics from Thammasat University.
Kristalina Georgieva · Managing Director, IMF
Kristalina Georgieva is the Managing Director of the IMF since October 1, 2019.  She was CEO of the World Bank from January 2017 to September 2019, during which time she also served as Interim President for three months.   Previously, Ms. Georgieva served as European Commission Vice President for Budget and Human Resources and as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response.   From 1993 to 2010, she held a number of senior positions at the World Bank, including as Vice President and Corporate Secretary in 2008, and as Director for Sustainable Development, Director for the Russian Federation (based in Moscow), Director for Environment, and Director for Environment and Social Development for the East Asia and Pacific Region.   Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, she holds a Ph.D. in Economic Science and a M.A. in Political Economy and Sociology from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, where she was an Associate Professor between 1977 and 1993. She also was visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The session will look at Asia’s development through the prism of structural transformation and the region’s role in the global economy. It will also discuss the future for Asia’s growth potential and strategies to address transformational challenges and opportunities.

Robin Harding is Asia Editor for the Financial Times, responsible for steering coverage across the region, and managing the FT's award-winning network of correspondents. He was previously Tokyo Bureau Chief, covering the Japanese economy, politics and foreign relations, and the US Economics Editor based in Washington DC, where he covered the Federal Reserve and the International Monetary Fund. Robin was born in Durham, in the north of England, and has degrees in economics from the University of Cambridge and Hitotsubashi University. Before becoming a journalist he worked in banking, asset management and public policy research.

Chatib Basri · Visiting Scholar, Harvard Center for International Development
Muhamad Chatib Basri is a former Minister of Finance of Indonesia. Previously he was the Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board.  Dr. Basri is now the Chairman of the PT Bank Mandiri tbk. He taught at the Department of Economics University of Indonesia. Dr. Basri is a member of the World Bank Advisory Council on Gender and Development, member of the board of commissioner of the Low Carbon Development Initiative for Indonesia and member of the Advisory Board, Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis, the Australian National University. He was a Thee Kian Wie Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Australian National University (2016-2017), Ash Centre Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School (2015-2016), Pacific Leadership Fellow at the Centre on Global Transformation, University of California San Diego (2016) and NTUC Professor of International Economic Relation, RSIS, NTU, Singapore (2016). His expertise is International Trade, Macroeconomics and Political Economy.
Aaditya Mattoo · Chief Economist (EAP), World Bank
Aaditya Mattoo is Chief Economist of the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank. He specializes in development, trade and international cooperation, and provides policy advice to governments. He is also Co-Director of the World Development Report 2020 on Global Value Chains. Prior to this he was the Research Manager, Trade and Integration, at the World Bank. Before he joined the Bank, Mr. Mattoo was Economic Counsellor at the World Trade Organization and taught economics at the University of Sussex and Churchill College, Cambridge University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge, and an M.Phil in Economics from the University of Oxford. He has published on development, trade, trade in services, and international trade agreements in academic and other journals and his work has been cited in the Economist, Financial Times, New York Times, and Time Magazine.
Danny Quah · Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy
Danny Quah is Li Ka Shing Professor in Economics. His research interests lie in international economic relations, economic growth and development, and income inequality and social mobility. Quah's current projects (1) study the modern practice of economic statecraft; and (2) analyze the impact of fraying multilateralism on economic growth and social mobility. Among other positions, Quah serves on the World Bank President's Economic Advisory Panel; the World Bank Group Institute for Economic Development's Advisory Board; the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Geopolitics; and Tsinghua University School of Public Policy and Management's Global Advisory Board. Quah was previously Assistant Professor of Economics at MIT, and then at LSE Professor of Economics and International Development, and Director of the Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre. At LSE he also served as Head of Department for Economics. At the School Quah served as Dean 2018-2025. Quah studied at Princeton, Minnesota, and Harvard.
Arvind Subramanian · Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics
Arvind Subramanian is senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE). Previously, he has taught at Brown, Ashoka and Harvard Universities. He served as the chief economic advisor to the government of India between 2014 and 2018.  He currently also advises state governments on macro-economic, fiscal and sectoral issues. Foreign Policy magazine named him one of the world's top 100 global thinkers in 2011. His latest book on India (co-authored with Devesh Kapur), “A Sixth of Humanity: Independent India’s Development Odyssey” was named amongst the Financial Times’ best books of 2025 by Martin Wolf.  As chief economic adviser, his annual Economic Survey of India, became a widely read document on Indian economic policy and development.  The 2018 Survey had 20 million views from over 190 countries in its first year of publication. His reflections on his tenure were published as “Of Counsel: The Challenges of the Jaitley-Modi Economy.” His critically acclaimed book, Eclipse: Living in the Shadow of China's Economic Dominance sold over 130,000 copies and was translated into 4 languages.
Keyu Jin · Hong Kong University of Science and Technology
Keyu Jin is a global economist and the author of The New China Playbook: Beyond Capitalism and Socialism. She served as a tenured Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science from 2009 to 2024. A native of China, Jin holds a BA and PhD from Harvard University. She is currently a Professor of Finance at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her latest book was named one of the Best Books of 2023 by the Financial Times and Fortune Magazine. Jin’s research focuses on China and the global economy, the US-China technology competition, and global macroeconomics. She serves on the boards of Richemont Group and Jardine Matheson, is a member of China Finance 40, and advises on the Economic Council of the State of Qatar and the World Bank. Jin is widely regarded as a leading voice bridging the East and West, and has been profiled in The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine. She is also a regular contributor of opinion pieces for the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other major publications.

Changyong Rhee · Governor, Bank of Korea
Chang Yong Rhee has been the Governor of the Bank of Korea and Chairman of its Monetary Policy Board since 2022. He currently serves as Chair of the Committee on the Global Financial System and as a member of the Board of Directors at the Bank for International Settlements. Between 2014 and 2022, he served as the Director of the Asia and Pacific Department at the International Monetary Fund. Prior to that, he was Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank from 2011 to 2014, Secretary General and Sherpa of the Presidential Committee for the 2010 G-20 Seoul Summit from 2009 to 2011, and Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission from 2008 to 2009. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rhee was a Professor of Economics at Seoul National University and an Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University. In 2011, he was awarded the Order of Civil Merit (Peony Medal) by the Government of the Republic of Korea.

Akio Fujii is the executive chair of editorial board of Nikkei Inc. Since he joined in 1985, he has held various positions with Nikkei, including being the Bank of Japan and Ministry of Finance correspondent, New York Bureau Correspondent, Chief Correspondent for economic affairs at Washington Bureau from 1998 to 2002, London based Senior Writer from 2009 to 2011 and Washington Bureau Chief from 2012 to 2014. He has also served as Senior Editor for International News Department, Editor-in-Chief for Nikkei Asian Review from 2015 to 2016, Senior Managing Editor, Head of Global News Operations from 2016 to 2017, Senior Editorial Writer from 2017 to 2020, Chair of Editorial Board from 2020 to 2024. He covered issues related to global governance, economic policy and international finance. Fujii obtained his BA in Economics from Waseda University in Tokyo. He has authored, among others, G20-The Great Game in 21st Century (2011 Nikkei), Yellen’s Federal Reserve (2013 Nikkei), Introduction for Japan’s Economy (2018 Nikkei), Ambition of Libra(2019 Nikkei), New Introduction for Japan’s Economy (2021 Nikkei), The Bubble of Justice and Japan’s Economy (2023 Nikkei), and The Distorted Yen in Galapagos Japan (2024 Nikkei).

Dong‑Chul Cho · KDI School of Public Policy and Management
Dongchul Cho is a professor at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. Until recently, he served as President of Korea Development Institute (KDI) and KDI School of Public Policy and Management (from November 2022 to February 2026), and as a member of the Monetary Policy Board at the Bank of Korea from 2016 to 2020. Prior to this, he was chief economist and head of Macroeconomic and Financial Policy Department at the Korea Development Institute. He also served as a member of National Economic Advisory Council to the President from 2013 to 2014, as a member of Presidential Council of Future and Vision from 2008 to 2010, as senior counselor to the Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Macro Policy Advisory Team at the Ministry of Finance and Economy from 2005~2006, as a member of the Policy Advisory Committee for the Prime Minister in 2004, and as a member of the Presidency Undertaking Advisory Committee in 2003. Before he joined the KDI in 1995, Dr. Cho was a professor of Economics at Texas A&M University. He graduated from Seoul National University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His major areas of interest include macroeconomics and international finance. He has published many articles in professional journals such as Journal of Money, Credit, and banking, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of Econometrics, and edited the book, Growth, Crisis and the Korean Economy, which collects his own articles in English.
Junji Ueda · Policy Research Institute, Ministry of Finance, Japan
Junji Ueda is a Deputy Director-General, Minister’s Secretariat of Japan’s Ministry of Finance (JMOF) in charge of policy planning and coordination. He is also working at the Policy Research Institute (PRI) of JMOF as Vice President responsible for leading research projects. Prior to these positions, he worked as a Director for Economic and Fiscal Policy Coordination at JMOF from 2018 to 2023, and an Advisor of the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2013 to 2018.   He joined JMOF in 1994 and held various positions in charge of policy planning and coordination, as well as conducting analytical works on Japan’s fiscal and economic policy, including long-term projections for Japan’s public finance and tax buoyancy. He has a Ph.D. in Economics at Kyoto University, an MSc in Economics at London University (LSE), a MSc in Finance at Lancaster University and a BA in Economics at The University of Tokyo.
Albert Park · Chief Economist, Asian Development Bank
Albert F. Park is Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Director General of its Economic Research and Development Impact Department. He is chief spokesperson on economic and development trends and leads the production of ADB’s flagship knowledge products and support for regional cooperation fora. Mr. Park has more than 2 decades of experience as a development economist and is a well-known expert on the economy of the People’s Republic of China. He has worked on a broad range of development issues including poverty and inequality, intergenerational mobility, microfinance, migration and labor markets, the future of work, and foreign investment. Mr. Park is Chair Professor of Economics, Social Science, and Public Policy at HKUST (on leave). He served as a founding director of HKUST’s Institute for Emerging Market Studies and Center for Economic Policy and previously held faculty positions at the University of Oxford and University of Michigan. A national of the United States, he received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Harvard University and his doctorate in applied economics from Stanford University.
David Canning · Harvard University
David Canning is Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Science and Professor of Economics and International Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His research focuses on the role of improvements in health, and changes in demography, on economic growth. He works at the intersection of demography, epidemiology, and economics, studying both the mechanisms behind demographic change and health improvements, and their effects on economic performance. He has worked both at the macroeconomic level, looking at the role of the demographic dividend in economic growth, and at the microeconomic level using randomized controlled trials to study the long- term economic effects of family planning interventions on health and economic outcomes. Dr Canning has previously held faculty positions at the London School of Economics, Cambridge University, Columbia University, and Queen’s University Belfast. He is currently based at the Ellison Institute of Technology in Oxford, working on efforts to improve healthy longevity and economic performance in the UK. He has been an advisor to the World Health Organization, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank. He has a BA from Queen’s University Belfast and a PhD in economics from Cambridge University.

S. Krishnan has been posted as Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, New Delhi since 11th September 2023. MeitY’s vision is the e-development of India using technology as the engine for transition to a developed nation and an empowered society. MeitY’s mission is to promote e-governance, Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing, IT & ITeS industries, Internet Governance, development of human resources, R&D and innovation, Emerging Technologies, digital services and ensuring a secure cyberspace. Krishnan is a member of the Indian Administrative Services for the past 35 years and has wide experience in a range of assignments in the Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of India and International Monetary Fund. He served as Additional Chief Secretary in Industries, Investment Promotion & Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu from November 2021 to August 2023. He was Additional Chief Secretary in the Finance Department, Principal Secretary in the Housing and Urban Development and in the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Departments. He was the founder CEO of the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board.  He also served as the Chairman of the Fifth Tamil Nadu State Finance Commission. He also managed corporate entities fully and partnered by the Government of Tamil Nadu. He served as the Senior Advisor in the Office of the Executive Director for India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan in the International Monetary Fund (Washington DC) and represented the Government of India in the G20 Expert Groups on International Financial Architecture and Global Financial Safety Nets. In the Government of India, he was Deputy Director in the LBSNAA for 4 years and Private Secretary to the Union Finance Minister for 2004 to 2007. He was District Collector of Virudhunagar District and also Deputy Secretary (Budget) in the Finance Department in Tamil Nadu for 4 years.
Sandy Kunvatanagarn · Head of Policy for Asia-Pacific Region, OpenAI
Sandy Kunvatanagarn is part of OpenAI’s APAC leadership team, driving the company’s expansion across the region. Prior to joining the company, she spearheaded global policy strategy coordination and development for Meta's hardware division, helped Meta to build the Oversight Board, and developed partnerships to support Meta's policy priorities in Thailand. A lawyer by training, Sandy was previously a U.S. diplomat and led the International Rescue Committee's legal access program for displaced persons along the Thai-Myanmar border.
Sunghyun Park · CEO, Rebellions (Korea)
Sunghyun Park is the Co-Founder and CEO of Rebellions, South Korea’s leading AI chip startup. With a Ph.D. from MIT and past roles at Intel, SpaceX, and Morgan Stanley, he returned to Korea in 2020 to launch Rebellions with four co-founders. Under his leadership, the company successfully merged with SKT’s AI chip subsidiary in 2024, becoming Korea’s first AI semiconductor unicorn. Rebellions has since raised over $470 million and partners with global tech firms to power energy-efficient AI infrastructure across the APAC region.
Santitarn Sathirathai · Thailand Development Research Institute
Dr. Santitarn Sathirathai is a strategist, bestselling author, policymaker, investor, corporate executive, and one of Asia’s leading experts on the intersection of the digital economy, macroeconomics, and public policy.  An economist by training, he currently serves on the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Thailand. He is also a member of the Investment Committee of Thailand’s Government Pension Fund. Previously, he was the Group Chief Economist at Sea Ltd and Head of Emerging Asia Economics Research at Credit Suisse. Santitarn holds a doctorate in Public Policy and a master’s degree in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard University and earned degrees from the London School of Economics.

Eli M. Remolona Jr. is the Governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). He previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), where he was Head of Financial Markets and Editor of the BIS Quarterly Review. He has a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
Xuan Changneng · Deputy Governor, People’s Bank of China
Dr. XUAN Changneng was appointed Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) in 2022. He previously served at SAFE and the CSRC. Dr. XUAN holds graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and an LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
Tobias Adrian · Director, IMF Monetary & Capital Markets Department
Tobias Adrian is the Financial Counsellor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the IMF. Prior to joining the IMF, he was a Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Mr. Adrian holds a Ph.D. from MIT and an MSc from the London School of Economics.

Frederic Neumann, PhD, is Managing Director, Chief Asia Economist, and Co-Head Global Research Asia, based in Hong Kong. Before joining HSBC in 2006, Frederic was an adjunct professor at a number of US universities, including Johns Hopkins University. A former Fulbright scholar, Frederic holds a PhD in International economics and Asian Studies.
Christopher Beddor · Deputy China Research Director, Gavekal Dragonomics
Christopher Beddor works with a team of China analysts at Gavekal Dragonomics to produce research on China’s economy and policy environment. He previously worked at Bridgewater Associates, Reuters, and Eurasia Group. He holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins SAIS and an undergraduate degree from Carleton College.

Tobias Adrian is the Financial Counsellor and Director of the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). In this capacity, he leads the IMF’s work on financial sector surveillance, monetary and macroprudential policies, digital money, financial regulation, bank resolution, and capital markets. Prior to joining the IMF, Mr. Adrian was a Senior Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Piti Disyatat currently serves as Deputy Governor for Monetary Stability overseeing monetary policy, financial markets and operations, as well as foreign exchange reserve management. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours) from the Australian National University and a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
Ken Chikada · Bank of Japan
Ken Chikada is Director-General and leads the International Department of the Bank of Japan (BoJ). He previously served on the IMF Executive Board and worked in the IMF Monetary and Capital Markets Department. He received his MA in Economics from the University of Michigan and BA from the University of Tokyo.
Benjamin Hung · Standard Chartered
Ben is the President, International for Standard Chartered. He sits on the Group’s Management Team and is Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong), China and Singapore. Ben joined Standard Chartered in 1992 and has held senior roles spanning corporate, commercial and retail banking.
Heung Chong Kim · Korea Institute of International Economic Policy

Ji-Young Choi is the Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) of the Republic of Korea. With more than two decades of experience in international finance and economic policy, Mr. Choi has held various senior positions within MOEF, including Director General for International Finance and Director for International Finance. Julie Kozack · IMF Communication Department
Ms. Julie Kozack is the head of the Communications Department (COM) at the International Monetary Fund. As Director of the Communications Department, Ms. Kozack is responsible for IMF strategy on external engagements with media and the Fund's key stakeholders, including legislatures and parliaments, labor representatives, civil society groups, and academics, as well as the Fund's internal communications. The Director works closely with the Managing Director and senior IMF management on the communication of the institution's operations, including policy and lending decisions. Ms. Kozack was previously a Deputy Director in the European Department (EUR), where she oversaw the IMF’s work on Ukraine. Prior to that, she was a Deputy Director in the Western Hemisphere Department (WHD) and lead negotiator for Argentina on its program. Ms. Kozack has also worked in the Fund’s Research and Strategy and Policy Review Departments. She has been mission chief for Germany, Iceland (during the crisis program period), Lithuania, Poland, and deputy mission chief for Russia. Ms. Kozack was heavily involved in multilateral surveillance work, particularly on G20 and G7 engagement at the time of the global financial crisis. Ms. Kozack further leveraged her leadership and communications expertise in her three-year role as the Director of the Singapore Regional Training Institute, demonstrating her seasoned managerial and leadership skills, running an independent institute away from headquarters with a mix of headquarter, local, and expert staff. She oversaw the delivery of training and capacity development to the Asia-Pacific region and broadened the understanding of the Fund by engaging with parliamentarians in the region through workshops and other training forums, as well as public and press engagements. Ms. Kozack, a United States national, holds a PhD as well as two master’s degrees in economics from Columbia University, New York. She earned a BA from Rutgers University.

Kristalina Georgieva is the Managing Director of the IMF since October 1, 2019.  She was CEO of the World Bank from January 2017 to September 2019, during which time she also served as Interim President for three months.   Previously, Ms. Georgieva served as European Commission Vice President for Budget and Human Resources and as Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response.   From 1993 to 2010, she held a number of senior positions at the World Bank, including as Vice President and Corporate Secretary in 2008, and as Director for Sustainable Development, Director for the Russian Federation (based in Moscow), Director for Environment, and Director for Environment and Social Development for the East Asia and Pacific Region.   Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, she holds a Ph.D. in Economic Science and a M.A. in Political Economy and Sociology from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, where she was an Associate Professor between 1977 and 1993. She also was visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
