Robin Koepke is a senior economist in the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department, where he works in the Regional Studies Division and covers fiscal issues on the Chile country team. His expertise spans macroeconomic surveillance and forecasting, international capital flows, external-sector and lending policy, financial market surveillance, and global financial stability. Before joining the IMF in 2016, he spent six years in the Global Macroeconomic Analysis Department at the Institute of International Finance. His country and regional assignments have included the United States, the euro area, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Fiji. He has developed widely used coincident indicators for tracking capital, trade, and tourism flows in real time. His research has appeared in leading journals, including the Journal of International Economics and the Journal of Economic Surveys. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Würzburg.
