Waste and Water Management

Waste generation is below pre-pandemic levels due to lower headquarters building occupancy. In 2022, the Fund generated 660 tons of waste, 42% of 2019 levels. To improve diversion from landfill, the Fund is exploring several steps, ranging from improved signage on collection bins, awareness-raising campaigns for staff and retail tenants, and a revised waste management strategy.

A recent installation of low-flow fixtures in HQ1 is helping to offset the effect of increased building occupancy, as seen from the much smaller increase in water consumption in HQ1 relative to HQ2. New technology is also being evaluated to reduce the water consumption by HVAC systems.
