Marina Mendes Tavares is an Economist in the Research Department (RES) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Prior to join RES, Marina led the working group on the interconnections between macroeconomic policy and inequality under IMF-DFID Collaboration. This group has developed the “Macroeconomic and Distributional Analysis Toolkit” that has been used extensively at the Fund to operationalize inequality in surveillance and program countries. Ms. Tavares research interests include macroeconomics, public finance and inequality. Prior to joining the Fund Ms. Tavares worked as an assistant professor at Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) and she holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
