Overview

Higher growth in Low-Income Countries (LICs) has been seen as the only way out of the poverty and income inequality. Experience shows, however, that higher growth episodes in LICs did not necessarily lead to fewer inequalities, and sometimes "on the contrary" resulted in greater inequalities. How do you ensure that growth is more inclusive for those marginalized? How can good governance unleash growth potential in LICs? How can policymakers make finance more accessible and beneficial to all citizens? The panel will discuss various regional experiences and offer specific recommendations on the design of inclusive growth policies.

This event is part of a one-day seminar on Commodity Price Volatility and Inclusive Growth in LICs.
