Press Release: IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato to Visit China, Indonesia, and Japan

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will travel to Japan, Indonesia, and China, between January 21-26, 2007 for visits that will include high-level meetings with the authorities.

The Managing Director will be in Japan between January 21-22 to give an address and participate in an international symposium organized by the Center for Monetary Cooperation in Asia (CeMCoA) of the Bank of Japan on January 22 that is focused around challenges facing Asian economies and financial markets. He will take the opportunity of his visit to Japan to also meet with the new government's economic team.

Mr. de Rato will visit Indonesia on January 23-24 for meetings with the authorities in Jakarta, and will hold private meetings with business leaders and private-sector and academic experts.

His three-nation visit will conclude on January 25-26 in China where the Managing Director will hold a series of high-level meetings in Beijing with the authorities.
