Oya Celasun is Deputy Director at the IMF’s European Department, where she oversees the surveillance of the euro area, Germany, and several other European economies. Her previous positions included Division Chief for the Multilateral Surveillance Division and the World Economic Studies Division of the IMF’s Research Department, Mission Chief to Uruguay, and Economist and Deputy Chief on the United States and Canada desks. She was published numerous academic and policy papers on issues related to public debt sustainability, sovereign risk and corporate debt, inflation in advanced and emerging market economies, and the costs of unpredictable aid flows in low-income countries.
