Daniel Gurara, Resident Representative
Petronella Chishawa, Economist: Petronella Chishawa is a local economist. She joined the office in November 2014. Prior to joining the IMF’s local office, she was serving the Government of Zimbabwe as a Principal Economist at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development where she worked for 9 years. She has a MSc. Degree in international trade policy and trade law and a Post Graduate Diploma in international trade policy and law from Lund University, Sweden and a BSc. Honors’ Degree in economics from the University of Zimbabwe.
Andrew Ziswa, Economist: Andrew Ziswa is a local economist. He joined the office in December 2023. Prior to joining the IMF’s local office, he worked in the Zimbabwean banking sector for Steward Bank and ZB Bank, the International Organization for Migration and the Government of Zimbabwe in the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises. He holds a MSc. Degree in Finance and Investment from the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe, a BComm in Economics from the Midlands State University and is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers Zimbabwe (AIOBZ).
Danai Chihota, Administrative Assistant: Danai Chihota is the Administrative Assistant at the IMF’s local office, having joined in June 2025. She brings over 15 years of experience as an administrator and office manager in the private sector, where she developed extensive expertise in office operations and management. Danai holds a degree in Business Administration from the Institute of Marketers Association in South Africa and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Zimbabwe.
James Rusike, Office Driver: James Rusike is the driver in the IMF’s local office. He joined the IMF in 2016 and worked for the government prior to that. He started his career as a pool driver, and was a VIP driver in various government offices for 8 years.

Fraudulent Scam Emails Using the Name of the IMF

We would like to bring to the notice of the general public that several variants of financial scam letters purporting to be sanctioned by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or authored by high ranking IMF officials are currently in circulation, and may appear on official letterhead containing the IMF logo. The scam letters instruct potential victims to contact the IMF for issuance of a “Certificate of International Capital Transfer” or other forms of approval, to enable them receives large sums of monies as beneficiaries. The contact e-mail information is always BOGUS and unsuspecting individuals are then requested to send their personal banking details which the scammers utilize for their fraudulent activities.
