IMF Managing Director Welcomes Nomination of Ben S. Bernanke to Federal Reserve Chairmanship

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), issued the following statement today following the nomination of U.S. Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Ben S. Bernanke to the Chairmanship of the Federal Reserve Board:

"I welcome the nomination of Ben S. Bernanke to the Chairmanship of the Federal Reserve Board. Mr. Bernanke, a leading economist and expert on monetary policy issues, has a strong record of public service both at the Federal Reserve and more lately at the Council of Economic Advisers."
