Press Release: IMF Managing Director Rodrigo de Rato Congratulates Paul Wolfowitz on Appointment as President of the World Bank

Mr. Rodrigo de Rato, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), today congratulated Paul Wolfowitz for his appointment as President of the World Bank Group. The Managing Director issued the following statement after the announcement of the appointment was made by the World Bank:
"I congratulate Paul Wolfowitz for being selected as President of the World Bank Group. Mr. Wolfowitz will bring to the Bank great experience of diplomacy, public policy and development. I look forward to working with him closely after he takes up his duties.
"I would also like to express my deep appreciation of James Wolfensohn for his great efforts over the past decade. He has made a tremendous contribution to the cause of economic development and poverty reduction. Thanks in large part to his efforts, the IMF and the World Bank have been able to forge an even stronger partnership that has been of great benefit to all our member countries—and it is a partnership that will continue well into the future."
