IMF Invites Comments on Review of Fund's Policy Support Instrument

Last Updated: August 05, 2013

The IMF is seeking public comments on its Policy Support Instrument, launched in 2005 to complement other Fund programs in providing policy support and signaling to its low-income members. At the time of the approval, it was agreed that the experience be reviewed after three years. Its goals are to assess whether:

  • the PSI is meeting stated objectives;
  • the rationale and objectives remain appropriate;
  • the PSI can be made more effective.

The Review will be based on views from countries that have used, or considered using, the PSI and on analysis of official documents and macroeconomic data . Bilateral and multilateral donors will also be contacted.

We also want to hear from a broad range of stakeholders (particularly from PSI countries) , to benefit from a variety of comments and suggestions. To this end, we are posting the concept note that lays out the terms of reference of the Review.

We are trying to advance quickly on this work program and therefore request comments be submitted by December 12, 2008. All comments will feed into the Review process.
