IMF Managing Director Horst Köhler to Visit China, India, Indonesia, Korea and Thailand

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Horst Köhler, is traveling to Bangkok, Thailand (May 31); Beijing, China (June 1); Seoul, Korea (June 3); Jakarta, Indonesia (June 4); and New Delhi, India (June 5).

The purpose of Mr. Köhler's trip is to hear perspectives on critical issues facing the global economy. He is particularly interested in the views of Asian countries on the role of the IMF, which will be an important input in the consideration of reform of the institution. Mr. Köhler, who visited Latin America last week, plans a similar trip to Africa. No date for that travel has yet been set.
