IMF Publishes Financial Transactions Plan

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today begins regular publication of information on the sources of financing for IMF lending. Data on the amounts provided by members to finance the IMF’s lending operations and other transactions will be posted on the IMF website (http://www.imf.org) after completion of each quarterly financial transactions plan. The first set of data, and an accompanying explanatory note, covers financial transactions completed in the period March-May 2000.

The IMF’s Executive Board decided in February to publish the sources of financing for IMF lending, beginning in August 2000 (see Press Release No. 00/11). The regular publication of country-specific data on the sources of financing for IMF financial operations is a significant further step in the IMF’s efforts to enhance transparency, and is designed to promote greater public understanding of the Fund’s financial activities.
