IMF Begins E-Mail Notification of New Website Items
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has established an e-mail notification system for new items posted on its website (www.imf.org) in order to bring new information to the attention of the public in a timely and useful fashion.
Press Releases, News Briefs, Public Information Notices (PINs), official communiques, speeches, and transcripts of press briefings are covered by the new notification service. Other series - such as the IMF Survey 1 and Special Drawing Right (SDR) rates - will be added in the coming months.
Subscribers to the service have the option of receiving real-time notification at their designated e-mail addresses, or through daily or weekly updates of website postings.
The new service also has a hyper-link to IMF website postings. The full text of material is not included in the notification to subscribers due to the size of files and the tables that are often contained therein.
The IMF’s website was launched in 1996 and currently receives 2.1 million hits per month from public officials, financial analysts, corporate planners, journalists, and the general public. The website contains only public information generated by the IMF, and some member-country publications.
To register for the notification service, visit: www.imf.org/signup.
1 The IMF Survey, which is published biweekly, is already available on the IMF website. Journalists can request a complimentary subscription by submitting a written request to Media Relations Division. Fax: (202)-623-6772.
