The IMF Executive Board on June 28, 2011 selected Christine Lagarde to serve as the 11th IMF Managing Director and Madame Chairman of the Executive Board.
The IMF Executive Board on June 28 selected Christine Lagarde to serve as the 11th IMF Managing Director and Madame Chairman of the Executive Board for a five-year term starting on July 5, 2011. Ms. Lagarde, who succeeds Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is the first woman named to the top IMF post since the institution’s inception in 1944. Read the full IMF Board statement.
