As the IMF's window to the region, the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (OAP) contributes to regional surveillance, takes the lead on regional cooperation, and promotes understanding of the Fund among IMF member countries in Asia and the Pacific.
What we do
Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)
The IMF, in cooperation with the Governments of Japan, has been administering the Japan-IMF Scholarship for Asia since the 1990s with the aim to enhance the financial and economic policy making capacity of Governments in Asia and the Pacific through training government officials.

IMF Executive Board Concludes 2010 Article IV Consultation with Japan
Japan’s economy continues to improve led by robust exports and policy stimulus. Following a deep recession in 2009, growth accelerated to 5 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the first quarter of 2010 amid signs of exports spilling over to domestic demand.

Balancing the strong growth numbers for the first half of 2010 and the adverse impact of increased financial turbulence, the IMF forecasts world growth to rise to 4 ½ percent this year, before falling somewhat to 4 ¼ percent in 2011—with the world average masking large differences around the globe.
