Press Release No. 07/102
"Paul Wolfowitz has informed me of his intention to resign as President of the World Bank. I respect this decision, which he has taken with the best interests of the Bank in mind, and I am confident the Bank and its membership will maintain their focus on the vital task of promoting economic development.
"I look forward to a continuation of the productive collaboration between the Fund and Bank in our areas of shared responsibility.
"In the time we have worked together as the heads of the two Bretton Woods institutions, I have valued our partnership and admired Paul Wolfowitz's commitment to the cause of poverty reduction and to the Bank as the world's leading development institution."
