September 30, 2013

Managing Director Christine Lagarde of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today announced her intention to appoint Clare Brady as Director of the Fund’s Office of Internal Audit and Inspection (OIA). Ms. Brady will succeed Russell Kincaid, who retired in April. Her appointment will take effect in January 2014.

“My Management colleagues and I look forward very much to working with Ms. Brady,” Ms. Lagarde said. “The OIA plays a vital role within the Fund through its independent examination of our control and governance processes, and we have full confidence that the office will continue to thrive under Ms. Brady’s leadership.”

Ms. Brady, a UK national, brings to the Fund more than 26 years of auditing expertise in the financial and public sectors, most recently as Vice President and Auditor General of the World Bank Group. Her previous positions include that of Auditor of the Bank of England and Managing Director of Group Audit for Deutsche Bank. Ms. Brady’s distinguished career has also included positions at the UK’s National Audit Office and several other major private sector institutions including Barclays Capital, HSBC, Republic National Bank of New York and First National Bank of Chicago.

She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
