Janet Yellen gave the Inaugural Michel Camdessus Central Banking Lecture at the IMF in Washington, DC on July 2, 2014.
Janet Yellen, Chair of the Federal Reserve Board, delivered the inaugural lecture. The new lecture series will become an annual event, which is intended to highlight the IMF’s commitment to collaboration with member countries’ central banks and provide a forum to discuss topical issues in central banking.
Michel Camdessus, the IMF’s former Managing Director, delivered opening remarks as the guest of honor. Michel Camdessus was the IMF’s longest serving Managing Director, from 1987 to 2000. Prior to joining the IMF, he was Governor of the Banque de France from 1984 to 1987.

Christine Lagarde is the eleventh Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund.
Michel Camdessus was Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund from January 1987 to February 2000.
Janet Yellen took office as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on February 3, 2014, for a four-year term ending February 3, 2018. Dr. Yellen also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee, the System's principal monetary policymaking body. Prior to her appointment as Chair, Dr. Yellen served as Vice Chair of the Board of Governors, taking office in October 2010, when she simultaneously began a 14-year term as a member of the Board that will expire January 31, 2024.
