Analytical Corner: Supply Chain Diversification and Resilience

Supply chain diversification strengthens resilience to adverse trade shocks but comes at the cost of efficiency. We develop a trade model with supply chain rigidities to quantify this trade-off and show that targeted policies can ease it.
