Course description and focus

• Presented by the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department.
• Helps Nepal authorities gain a deeper understanding of international and regional good practices in:
  • Budget formulation
  • Medium term and performance budgeting
  • Cash management
  • Cross-cutting issues
• Most sessions will follow discussion on issues and practices in Nepal and possible strengthening of their systems.

Target audience and qualifications

• Target audience:
  • Mid level officers of Government of Nepal dealing with budgeting
• Qualifications:
  • At least five years of experience in budgeting, budget execution

Course objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Conduct training in collaboration with Budget office of Nepal
• Discuss the problem areas in the subject and cross-cutting areas
• Discuss international and regional good practices
• Discuss the country practices and gap areas to strengthen budget institutions and controls; with a vision on fiscal federalism
