Central bank staff who are responsible for advising on or carrying out monetary policy analysis, policy implementation, and market operations.

Course Description

This course on modernizing Monetary Policy Frameworks and Operations is presented by experts and policy practitioners from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) and the IMF Capacity Development Office in Thailand (CDOT). The program includes lectures on policy objectives and the role of monetary and exchange rate policy in economic policy making; monetary policy formulation and strategy; monetary policy implementation, including money market operations, liquidity forecasting, and liquidity management frameworks; money and financial market development; foreign exchange markets and intervention strategies; inflation analysis, and forecasting and the role and design of forecasting and policy analysis systems in policy making studies.

Course Objectives

This course seeks to link policy making issues with those of implementation in an evolving monetary framework context. The course aims to bring together staff from different parts of each central bank for in-depth discussions of both monetary policy formulation and analysis, and to monetary implementation and market operations.
