Course Description
This course covers selected macroeconomic issues. The course explains the principal features of the four main macroeconomic sectors (real, fiscal, external, and monetary) and their interlinkages including macro-fiscal and macro-financial aspects, how to diagnose macroeconomic imbalances and financial stability risks, and correct them through a coordinated set of adjustment policies. In addition, this course reinforces some of the basics of fiscal and monetary policy and debt sustainability analysis. There will be a mixture of lectures on economic theory and applications to the Indian context, and a final panel discussion. The course will feature an experienced team of IMF officials with knowledge on India and an expert with a significant background in academic research and high-level policy making in advanced economies.
