Course Description
This course aims to deepen participants' understanding of inclusive growth and equip them with analytical and operational tools-such as the Inclusive Growth Dashboard-to assess how macroeconomic policies affect growth, poverty, inequality, and job creation. It addresses economic opportunities and challenges arising from longer-term structural trends, including technological change (e.g., artificial intelligence), and demographic shifts. Lectures cover key concepts and metrics of inclusive growth, as well as fiscal, financial, and structural policies that support it - particularly those related to labor markets, human capital, and sustainable growth. Interactive workshops provide participants with hands-on experience in applying these concepts and designing inclusive growth strategies, drawing on country case studies.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Interpret measures of poverty and inequality.
- Analyze how macroeconomic policies can promote growth, reduce poverty, and address inequality.
- Understand the growth and distributional impact of long-term structural trends such as artificial intelligence and demographic shifts and the associated policy challenges and implications.
