Kristy Howell is a Senior Economist in the IMF’s Statistics Department, where she works in the Balance of Payments Division. Prior to joining the Fund in 2020, she was Chief of the Balance of Payments Division at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Her research interests include understanding asymmetries in bilateral trade and investment statistics. She holds an undergraduate degree in international economics from Bethany College and a master’s in economics from American University.
