Course Description

The course will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of digitalization and the policies that can accelerate digital adoption by households, firms, and governments. It will begin by presenting evidence on the implications of the digital divide-both across and within countries-and will then discuss government policies on the supply and demand sides aimed at fostering faster digital adoption and closing this divide. Participants will learn how to estimate digital infrastructure investment needs at the country level to achieve universal broadband access and will review cross-country experiences with government programs that promote digital inclusion. The course will also explore the social dividends of digital adoption, including its impact on labor markets, education, health, and social outcomes. Finally, it will examine how GovTech solutions can enhance tax revenue collection, strengthen the efficiency and transparency of public spending, and support the effective implementation of comprehensive digitalization reform strategies.
