November 23, 2016

  • IMF to enhance cooperation with China in capacity development to support its financial sector reforms

A new initiative launched this week further strengthens the close technical cooperation between China Securities Regulatory Commission and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in support of China’s financial sector reforms. The five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) covers cooperation areas such as capital market supervision and development, systemic risk prevention, and stockholder communication.

During a visit to Beijing, First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton of the IMF and Chairperson LIU Shiyu of the China Securities Regulatory Commission agreed that the intensified cooperation envisaged under the MOU will be most helpful in supporting financial stability and market development. They both looked forward to the mutual benefits that will arise from enhanced cooperation, and welcomed the strong spirit of partnership and cooperation that underpins the relationship between China and the IMF.
