Qualifications
Participants are expected to have a university or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, business, or law, or have earned professional certifications in finance, risk management, or auditing/accounting.
Course Description
This workshop is offered by the IMF South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) in collaboration with the IMF Capacity Development Office in Thailand. It aims to enhance central banks' understanding of central bank balance sheets (CBBS), focusing on their roles, structures, and importance for monetary policy implementation and policy solvency.
Participants will learn to forecast CBBS long-term, conduct stress tests for policy solvency, and understand the impact of different balance sheet structures on monetary policy implementation.
Key topics cover balance sheet transparency and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the concept of `solvency' for central banks, and dynamic capital/profit retention policy. Interactive sessions, group exercises, and peer-to-peer sharing of country experiences will facilitate active participation and knowledge exchange, with the possibility of follow-up customized capacity development for interested central banks.

- Enhance understanding of central bank balance sheets (CBBS) among central bank officials.
- Identify challenges and solutions related to managing CBBS in the context of monetary policy implementation.

- Use leading practices for central banks in the area of balance sheet transparency and profit distribution.
