Press Release: IMF Board Receives Third Nomination for IMF Managing Director

On Tuesday, February 29, 2000, the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Executive Board received the third formal nomination for the post of the Managing Director of the IMF.
Mr. Caio Koch-Weser, Germany's State Secretary for International Finance, was nominated on behalf of the European Union Member states by Mr. Joao Santos, an Advisor in the Executive Board constituency that includes Portugal, which currently holds the presidency of the European Union. Mr. Bernd Esdar, Executive Director for Germany, made a statement in support of the nomination of Mr. Koch-Weser.
The statements are posted on the IMF's website (http://www.imf.org).
Executive Directors are in consultation with their respective authorities on the nominations received (see Press Release No. 00/10). They plan an informal poll on the nominees on Thursday, March 2. Following the poll, a statement will be issued.
