News Brief: IMF Welcomes Argentine Announcement

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) welcomed today the announcement by the Argentine government of the successful conclusion of the debt exchange offer, including the US$ 8 billion participation by foreign investors.
The greater than expected amount of debt exchanged should lead to a substantial reduction in gross financing requirements through 2005.
