Press Release: IMF Establishes Independent Evaluation Office

The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Executive Board agreed today that an independent evaluation office will be established in the IMF. The terms of reference, structure, staffing, and operating procedures of the evaluation office will be determined by the time of the Annual Meetings in September 2000.
The work of the evaluation office will complement the IMF's ongoing internal and external evaluation activities. The background paper for today's Executive Board discussion will be released to the public in the next few days.
