Mr. A. Shakour Shaalan, an Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), made the following statement today:
"In accordance with established procedures I have, in my capacity as Executive Director, nominated, for consideration by the Executive Board at the appropriate time, the following candidates for the post of Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund:

Mohamed El-Erian
Stanley Fischer"
