All government officials are welcome to register. This course is particularly useful for officials from ministries of finance, debt agencies, central banks, and other government agencies responsible for providing advice or implementing macroeconomic and public debt policies.
Some knowledge of economics is helpful. Basic Microsoft Excel skills and access to a computer with a reliable Internet connection and a Google Chrome web browser are essential. This course is designed for learners who are already familiar with public debt projections and the Public Debt Dynamics Tool (DDT). If you're new to DDT, we strongly recommend completing the DDTx course before continuing with this course Projecting Public Debt - The Public Debt Dynamics Tool.
This short 90-minutes online course, presented by the Institute for Capacity Development, explains how to project the evolution of public gross financing needs (GFN) over time, for a given set of projections of the relevant macrofiscal variables.
The course explains how GFN can be projected with the easy-to-use Excel-based Public Debt Dynamics Tool with GFN (DDT_GFN). The DDT_GFN provides public debt and gross financing needs projections under a baseline and alternative scenarios, including through fan charts that represent the uncertainty about the evolution of these variables.
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
