Target Audience
Mid-level to senior officials are welcome to register. The course is particularly useful for officials from central banks, ministries of finance, and other government agencies tasked with the design and execution of policies related to macroeconomics and climate change issues.
Qualifications
Participants are expected to have an advanced degree in economics or equivalent experience and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel. It is recommended that applicants first complete the online Macroeconomics of Climate Change: Science, Economics, and Policies (MCCx-SEP) course.
Course Description
This course provides an overview of the science and economic costs of climate change, discusses policy options for adaptation and mitigation (including pricing carbon emissions and removing of fossil fuel subsidies), and analyzes challenges and opportunities related to transitioning to greener economic models.
Course Objectives
Upon completion, participants will be equipped with essential knowledge and information to assess climate-related macroeconomic issues, including greening the economy, investing in climate resilience, and analyzing challenges and opportunities related to transition to greener growth models. Participants are expected to actively contribute to classroom-exercises and presentations. Peer learning will be an essential element of the course.
