Inaugural Richard Goode Lecture: Thomas J. Sargent: "A History of U.S. Debt Limits"

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) will hold its first Inaugural Richard Goode Lecture at its headquarters in Washington DC on December 2, 2015. The Richard Goode Lecture is envisioned as an annual event to anticipate and discuss policy issues and debates. It is hosted by the Fiscal Affairs Department and will call on top academics to contribute, and invite a broad audience of policy makers, academics, and representatives from international organizations.

The theme of this year's conference is "A History of U.S. Debt Limits" presented by Professor Thomas J. Sargent. After his presentation, Sargent and FDMD David Lipton will discuss the topic.

The conference is by invitation only. Invited attendees will be required to present photo identification on entering the IMF at 1900 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington D.C.
