Fiscal Policies and Gender Equality

The conference started with a panel on how fiscal policies can contribute to gender equality and women’s advancement, and featured Ms. Christine Lagarde, IMF Managing Director, Ms. Julie Delahanty, Executive Director, Oxfam Canada, Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director, UN Women, and Ms. Laura Tyson, Professor of Business Administration and Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Ms. Sheila MacVicar served as the master of ceremonies and moderated the first panel.

In addition, the conference offered panel discussions with academics and public officials working on relevant topics, as well as a keynote speech by Prof. Diane Elson, and the presentation of results from an IMF/UK DFID project on gender budgeting.
