IMF Research Perspectives

The articles featured in this issue study the accumulation of factors of production, such as labor and capital; the efficiency with which these are used; and innovation, which drives technological progress and ultimately underpins long-term growth. The evidence presented in this issue draws from the experiences of countries from a wide spectrum of the income distribution and emphasizes how well-designed policies and emerging technologies can overcome frictions faced by firms and workers to unleash economic development and growth. This issue does not touch upon AI, a potentially powerful new lever for growth.
