Ravi Balakrishnan is the chief of the Advanced Economies unit in the European Department and manages the euro area team. Previously, in the Western Hemisphere Department, he held positions as mission chief for Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Peru, and helped manage the U.S. team. He was also the IMF’s Resident Representative based in Singapore during 2010-13, and has worked on the World Economic Outlook. His research interests cover labor dynamics, inequality, inflation dynamics, exchange rate dynamics, and capital flows. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics.
