Giovanni Melina is the deputy division chief of the Structural and Climate Policy division of the IMF's Research Department. He previously worked in the IMF's African Department as a senior desk economist in the Uganda team, after spending several years in the IMF's Research Department as an economist. Before joining the Fund, he worked as an Associate Professor of Macroeconomics at City University London, after obtaining a PhD in Economics from Birkbeck, University of London. His research focuses on the design of monetary and fiscal policies, climate economics, and structural issues.
