Andrew Berg is Assistant Director in the IMF’s Research Department. Previously, he led work on regional studies and missions to Malawi for the IMF's African Department, and has also worked on a range of research and policy issues. He has also worked as an associate of Jeffrey Sachs and at the U.S. Treasury, including on Mexico and as Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asia and Latin America. His current research agenda includes the sources of sustained growth, the macroeconomics of aid, and frameworks for monetary policy and debt sustainability analysis in low-income countries.
